What is it?
Silicon nitride is a monolithic ceramic displaying exceptional hardness and resistance to fracturing, as well as other properties that make it extremely valuable in a huge number of applications.
Properties
Thanks to its toughness, thermal stability and resistance to wear, this material is used to make tools for cutting, sharpening and extrusion, and for specific high-speed mechanical processes on cast iron.
Use
Silicon nitride is exceptionally effective in applications subject to thermal shock and stress due to high loads (e.g. welding rods); it is particularly useful in processes carried out at very high temperature requiring appropriate electrical insulation; it is also an excellent solution in hydraulics and extrusion, being a key product for tools, nozzles, tubes and conduits.
